Lazer Team Movie Premiere Inspired Makeup - MOTD | The Lipstick Hub

For the new movie Lazer Team by Rooster Teeth's premiere, I decided to use a few key products to create a metallic blue and silver themed look. My last themed look was for Troye's concert and I had a lot of fun with that but seeing as Lazer Team's promo pics and logo have a bit of a silver and blue theme to them, that's what I based my look around.

For eyeshadows I used the NYX Baked Eyeshadow in Graffiti, Makeup Geek's Poolside and Urban Decay's Vice 4 palette, specifically Beat Down. For eyeliner, I used the Lime Crime liquid eyeliner in Reason. For lips I used NYX Wicked Lippie in Stone Cold.

For a little something extra, the nail polish I used was Chi Chi Salon Formula in Starlight Starbright.

Some other products I used for the base were the Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation, Maybelline Fit Me concealer for under the eyes, BYS translucent loose powder to set the under eye area. For the contour I used a matte grey eyeshadow from the Morphe 35N palette and to highlight I used Hourglass' diffused light but it didn't have the effect I wanted so I used Sugar Pill's loose eyeshadow in Lumi. For the eyes I used the matte grey from the 35N palette as my base crease colour and then used the two main blues. I also used a blue from the Morphe 35U palette. I used the NYX baked eyeshadow in the inner corner and layered Lumi on top of it. I used the Chi Chi eyeliner in Electra to line under my lower lash line and then used the Lime Crime eyeliner for the wing. For the mascara I used the Essence Lash Princess. Lipstick used is the NYX one.

Btw it was an awesome movie, I would definitely recommend it for people who like Sci-Fi, Action, Comedy's. I would like to congratulate Rooster Teeth on their first ever movie and it was a great movie. Definitely better than Pixel's, that's for sure.

Priceline Skin Care Sale Haul ft. The Face Shop

My little skin care haul, it's not actually that little seeing as it damaged my bank account more than I care to admit. But I thought, this is probably worth blogging about seeing as it seems like I bought a thousand things. This is a little combined haul because the Priceline Skin Care sale was on the 27th and 28th of Jan but I also went to The Face Shop (for those of you who don't know what that is, The Face Shop is a Asian beauty store).

I only got two things at The Face Shop so I'll start there. The two things I got were a Blackhead Out white clay nose pack and a Pore Tightening cooling mist.

I got the Blackhead Out white clay nose pack because I saw Shaaanxo use it in one of her 'daily' vlogs and thought it would a cool alternative to the Biore nose strips. I haven't been able to use it yet as my skin is still peeling from that sunburn but I have high hopes for this product. It was $11 at The Face Shop and you get 50g of product. I also have to say that the packaging is really nice, the pale blue was a good choice and there's a fair amount of english on the container considering this is an Asian product.

The other thing I got, the Pore Tightening cooling mist I got because I needed something to tighten my pores after ripping the blackheads out. I never had anything when I used my pore strips, the best I could do was put some cold water on the area and hope for the best. I'm fairly certain that Lush might have a pore tightening face mask but I just never got around to getting it. It's really bad to use pore strips because it makes your pores bigger and they collect more dirt, so I'm hoping this is really effective. This was $27 for 150g of product. It is an aerosol can but I'm really excited to try it. Again the packaging is really nice, the pastel teal was a great choice and just looks nice on the vanity.

The Priceline I went to was the Hurstville shopping centre one and it was savage. The amount of people all trying to get what they wanted was ridiculous. However I did get almost everything I wanted except for one or two things.

Neutrogena Deep Clean Revitalising Pink Grapefruit Foam Cleanser - This appealed to me because lately I've been loving grapefruit on my skin. I know it makes a great exfoliator because of the acid but I wanted more for different things like cleansers. The packaging is super cute and Neutrogena have had some pretty good skin care stuff before.

Neutrogena Deep Clean Revitalising Pink Grapefruit Daily Scrub - Same thing as above, basically it screamed grapefruit at me and I thought it would be good to get the duo, one to match the other.

People for Plants Aloe, Grapefruit, Garnet Face Scrub - I actually went to a second Priceline for this, unplanned I just happened to pass another Priceline and they had it in stock. Again grapefruit stuck out to me but aloe also sounded really nice because of my recent sunburn. I haven't tried the brand before and thought this would be a good start.

Yes to Cucumbers Soothing Eye Gel - This stood out in particular because I had a reaction (don't know if it was an allergic one) and my eyes swelled up to the max. I needed something to fix it but didn't have anything. I'm fine now and it only lasted about three days but it got me thinking, my mother suggested that cucumbers might help with the swelling. So I found this on the Priceline website, I picked it up because I thought it would help if it happened again.

Bliss No 'Zit' Sherlock Spot Treatment - Let's be real here, I picked this up because of the name. I also have a lot of pimples/zits (being a teenager does that). Some other things influneced me to pick it up, it said that it could help absorb excess oil and I, myself personally had never tried the brand Bliss, I have given something else by them as a present.

Milk and Co Ultra Light Face Moisturiser - I picked this up on a whim, though I did want to pick something up from this line because I love Milk and Co. I got the moisturiser because it appealed to me the most from the stock they had. I did get excited when I saw that it said vitamin e, aloe vera and jojoba oil on the box.

Clearasil Daily Clear Superfruits Refreshing Toner - I got the wash version in this in my Bellabox and my god I needed the rest of this collection. The wash is amazing and well why not get the rest of the Superfruits stuff?

Clearasil Daily Clear Superfruits Refreshing Scrub - Read above haha.

Biore Charcoal Pore Minimiser - I've wanted this since I saw it on Biore's instagram page. I didn't think it would be an exfoliator and more of a mask thing but oh well, I'm sure I'll enjoy it just as much. I love all the pore products from Biore and think they work really well so I'm hoping this will be a great product.

Biore Deep Cleansing Pore Strips - I got the 14 combo pack which includes 7 nose strips and 7 forehead strips. I haven't tried the face strips so that should be fun. I really wanted to get the charcoal strips but at both Pricelines they didn't have any.

Skin Doctors No More Oil T-Zone Cream, I originally was going to get the Skin Doctors T-Zone No More Bores Night Treatment but I thought this one was better suited to me. I wanted something that was going to help with my oily t-zone so I picked this up. I've never tried the brand or heard of them, so this should be interesting.

Montagne Jeunesse Green Tea Peel Off Masque - My god I love this stuff. I'm fairly certain I've talked about this on instagram before because it's magical. I'll actually be talking about this in an upcoming skincare post so keep an eye out for that. I just wanted to restock on this basically.

St Ives Facial Blemish Control Scrub - Another thing I wanted to restock up on. A lot of people have mixed feelings about this. I love this, one of the best scrubs I've had but I've always had the small one, this is my first full sized one.

Manuka Doctor Peel Off Mask - The most expensive thing I got but easily the best thing. I was worried that it would be sold out, they don't have it on the website and since Shaaanxo talked about it on her vlog it's been in high demand. This was just a restock up.

The last thing I got was the Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes, the Night Calming ones. This wasn't on my list initially but seeing as it's how I remove my makeup I thought I should get some backups while it's cheap.

Some things that were on my list but they were out of stock on - Milk and Co Face Cleanser and the Biore Deep Cleansing Charcoal Pore Strips.

I've also included a photo of some other stuff I got today like makeup stuff, so if you guys would like to see any reviews on it just let me know in the comments down below! :)

Hidden Gems #1 - Maybelline Master Sculpt

Hidden Gems is a thing I've decided to do, possibly weekly, but scheduling could conflict. But it should most likely be weekly. Hidden Gems is a little review about a product that isn't very well talked about, or has a little bit of hype about but needs some more recognition.

The first product I'm going to talk about is the Maybelline Master Sculpt, specifically in the shade light/medium. I heard about this product from Karissa on Youtube and she described it as the perfect contour shade for pale people. That caught my attention straight away and the next 40% off Maybelline sale at Priceline, it was the first thing I picked up. It has a contour shade and a smaller highlighter shade. You can flip up the middle panel and underneath is a mirror and contour brush, similar to the widely known Becca one but not quite the same.

This contour shade is the perfect, ashy-but-not-too-ashy brown for pale skin tones. It doesn't give you a harsh line that makes you look like the Joker but instead gives you that perfect shadow for definition.

The highlight shade is okay, its not completely perfect but it's not at all chunky-glittery. It's not going to give you that Jeffree Star glow, but it will be a nice touch if you need something simple for work.
The compact is perfect for day-to-day travels as it comes with the brush and mirror as well but I love to take it with me for proper travelling as well.

Overall it's the perfect shade for contouring for pale skin tones, the packaging makes it easy to travel with and it's affordable, especially if there's a target or priceline sale on.

Mecca Beauty Loop Box 20/1

On the 20th of Jan the Mecca Beauty Loop boxes got released. I was hella excited for these as the last one was absolute perfection. If you don't know what Beauty Loop is, it's basically Mecca's reward programm, I do believe that it was introduced middle last year. The more you buy from Mecca the higher up you go, each level has different benefits but all the levels get something free on their birthday (SPOILERS: I do believe it is a Mecca hand cream) and each level gets a beauty loop box. Basically level one is the basic one, second is a bit better and the third is the best "supposedly."

I'm on level 2 and my god I could not have been more disappointed.

My very first one was a level 1 and it had a mini By Terry mascara, a Kate Somerville moisturiser, a Josie Maran moisturiser and a Ren facial sample. The second box I got was a level 2 and it had a Ren facial sample, a mini Too Faced bronzer, samples of the Too Faced Born This Way foundation in different shades and a mini Nars Larger Than Life Long-Wear eyeliner in Via Veneto. I was absolutely in love with this box. The boxes are a bit of a hit and miss though, level 3 was jealous of the level 2 box because our box was better than theirs.

However this time around the level 1 box was better than the level 2's and level 3 was freaking amazing. It's really confusing.

In my box this year I got a mini Smashbox bb cream in light, a mini Byredo perfume, a Kate Somerville mask sample and a Bumble and Bumble shampoo and conditioner sample. It really pissed me off that we got almost the same sample (the Kate Somerville one) as the one I did in my first level 1 box. I'm grateful for the free stuff, (though can you really call it free stuff when you have to spend a certain amount of money at their store to get this?) but this box wasn't that great. I find sachet samples to be the most annoying things on the planet. Someone did say that these were expensive brands but this just seemed, too random. The perfume is nice I guess but you have to have a particular scent in mind. The bb cream is probably the best thing in the box, but it's a bb cream, which means it has different shades. I don't know if every box had the shade light in it but I felt that was very unfair to all the other skin tones. At least with the Too Faced born this way foundation samples they had different shades. This just didn't seem very inclusive and might have been the only redeeming thing in the box.

I will say that I love the beauty loop boxes, my second one literally left my jaw on the floor, but this one could have done better. I do like that they changed the box though, it used to be a pullout type mechanism but now it's a lid type box. I hope the next one is better!

Troye Sivan's Concert Makeup

Troye Sivan recently had a concert on the 13th of Jan so of course I went with one of my friends.
The concert was amazing and I have to say that both Nicole Millar and Troye Sivan were phenomenal. Seeing as Troye's album name was Blue Neighbourhood, I decided to go a little blue.

On my lips was Jeffree Star's Abused. It was a perfect dark blue for what I wanted. I ordered it from Beserk Clothing the week before and it arrived the day before the concert so I was really happy about that, I didn't even pay for express shipping so I was really impressed, granted I have ordered from them before and I knew the shipping would be quick.

On my nails was Lime Crime's Once In A Blue Mousse. On Troye's album artwork, the sky is this milky blue that I thought perfectly matched. I also didn't want to go overboard with bright and bold blues because I didn't want the look to be too full on.

On the eyes I used my new Lime Crime Venus 2 palette, specifically the shade Filter. It's a perfect baby blue, I can't say much more than that, other than Lime Crime nailed it with this shade.

For my actual outfit I wore a button up blue tie-dye crop top from Supre, my high waisted light blue jeans from American Apparel and my teal green converse.

I also got hella sunburnt from waiting in line. It got to the point where I had first degree burns on my face the next day and had blisters all over my forehead. That was fun.

The concert was great and I can't wait to do another themed look soon.

New ColourPop Liquid Lipstick Swatches

For the holiday period Colourpop released new mini versions of the Ultra Matte Liquid Lipsticks, they had two different packs, one set included all of their best sellers and the other one included new shades. Each pack was $20USD and included 5 minis. The set I bought that included the new shades was called Kitty, and some of the colours looked very similar to other shades, I thought I do some swatches so you guys could see the differences.

From the top down is Bianca - from the new set
Beeper - an old shade
Times Square - new set
Be Merry - new set
Donut - old shade
Last Dance - new set
More Better - old shade
Glitter - new set

The top three nudes are very similar, Bianca is slightly lighter than the other two. More better looks similar to Last Dance and Glitter in the photo but they look a little different in real life. Glitter is similar to More Better but Last Dance is more of a brick red.

New 2016 Makeup Trend Already?

So I've heard a lot about this trend already and it scares me.

The new trend is called "Glossy Eyes" and I just can't get on board with it. Places like BeautyHeaven and Makeup Forever have already posted articles and instagram photos about it but in my opinion it looks like a bad case of pink eye. The Glossy Eye can be achieved with some vaseline (and or lipbalm) and some eyeshadow.

Now I loved a lot of the trends from 2015 like the terracotta nudes and the liquid to matte lipstick trend but I don't see myself loving this trend at all. I barely like glossy lips as it is.

So my question is what do you guys think of this trend? Have we gone too far in the makeup industry? Let me know in the comments down below because I'd certainly love to hear your opinions on the matter.

My Makeup Travel Essentials

I'm sure you can all understand why I didn't post on Thursday and Friday as it was a public holiday, hope you all enjoyed yourselves.

For those of you who travel a lot or will be travelling in the future, I have compiled a little list of the best things to take travelling with you that won't break your arm to carry. These products are weight-friendly but also are some of my personal holy-grail products. I guess this is my take on the makeup travel tag? Lets start with the base/face products first shall we?

  • First, primer. There are quite a few travel size (i.e. sample sizes) primers like the Benefit Porefessional but the one I'm going to mention is the Hourglass Veil primer, the smallest size is the 8.95ml. While it is a bit pricey, it does the job and it does it well.
  • Foundation - There are a few different ways you could go with this. I personally love Benefit's Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow foundation in the size 7ml but if you prefer something light weight then I would recommend the Gariner BB cream. You can pick up the 15ml tube from Priceline or a supermarket. It is perfect for going to humid places especially if you don't want to wear heavy makeup. Another option you could do is go get a sample of your favourite foundations, MAC do the cutest little samples but you could also go to Mecca and ask for a sample of your preferred foundation there.
  • Concealer - There aren't too many travel sized concealers that are also good quality products but I have found the MAC Select Moisture Cover concealer is perfect. I feel like it isn't talked about enough and I prefer it over Prolongwear any day. It's the perfect concealer for any weather conditions and will not hesitate to cover up your nasty pimples in a flash.
  • Highlight, Bronzer, Blush etc. - I would suggest getting a small palette or a combination type product, it saves more room than you think, especially with chunky individual packaging. The 3 in particular I recommend are great products, the Nars Orgasm/Laguna duo, the Sportsgirl Bright Young Things palette, and last the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit palette. I'll start with Nars' most coveted products, their famous Orgasm blush and Laguna bronzer. It's perfect for travelling with or purchasing in general if you don't already own them. The Sportsgirl palette was a gift to me and I freaking love it, it seems a little cheap, almost like the makeup kits they makeup for 3 year olds but Sportsgirl surprised me. The packaging looks cute as hell and the products are actually quite nice. It comes with 3 lip colours, a blush, a bronzer, 8 eyeshadows and a big mirror. The palette is a little big but it does come with tons of product. It is on the shimmery side and has more bold/bright colours than neutral but I wouldn't knock it till you try it. My favourite of these three though is the Hourglass palette. Again more on the shimmery side but you can't go wrong with it. With three highlighters, two blushes and a bronzer, you could create tons of different looks with this. Perfect for a long getaway or a wedding event, this is a must bring.
  • Brows - Moving on to the upper half of the face, I'm sure most of you have your staple brow products, mine is the Loreal Brow Artist Plumper. Brow products shouldn't be too much of a problem to travel with, though it would definitely be more efficient to take a brow pencil like the ABH Brow Wiz than a pomade (for example the Chi Chi or ABH one). For me a tinted brow mascara is easiest.
  • Eye Primer - Benefit mini's sure are the way to go. My go-to eye primer, Stay Don't Stray, works amazing. I really can't say anything more amazing about it.
  • Eyeshadow palettes - Palettes that give you great product, variety while also being size-friendly may be hard but in fact you can get it for cheap from target or Priceline. The Essence palettes. I personally love the Roses palette but there's a palette for everyone's taste, the Chocolates, the Nudes etc. They each have 8 eyeshadows in each palette.
  • Eyeliner - my go-to eyeliner to travel with is the travel sized Nars Larger Than Life, Long-wear Eyeliner in Via Veneto. It works amazing for the tightline, waterline and lashline. It works for each of them because it's so creamy.
  • Mascaras - I like to travel with two mascaras but one is plenty for most. The first pick is the They're Real from Benefit, there are plenty of travel sized mascaras from Benefit that you can pick up from any Benefit counter. The last eye product I'll be mentioning is the Too Faced LashGasm mascara, it is the only thing I use for my bottom lashes because of the small bristles and really well texturised mascara (i.e. it's wet enough that one coat coats all of your lashes without looking like black water).
To really cut down on the size of your makeup bag, pack double ended brushes.

  • Lucky last, Lipsticks - Again you have multiple choices. For small lipsticks that fit perfectly in small clutches, for a wedding maybe, my best options are the Savvy minis or the Kat Von D minis. You can only get Savvy minis during the holidays at Priceline. It comes in a 10 pack and the colour range is amazing. I don't know how easy the Kat Von D studded kiss lipsticks are to get but I've managed to get my hands on a few of them, as Sephora samples and in one of her latest holiday kits. Another option for a quick weekend holiday is Covergirl Blastflipstick, a double ended lipstick. I've seen a few different shades but overall I think it's a really cool concept.
    • If you're coco for liquid to matte lipsticks just like me, then you can't live without them. Some of the only travel sized liquid lipsticks I've seen are the Australis mini Velourlips, I used to hate these but I've since turned a new leaf with these. The mini's have 5 in a pack and have two packs available for the holidays at Priceline.
One more quick tip, I'm sure everyone knows it but once you've finished a perfume, say your Elizabeth and James Nirvana Black 7ml rollerball, why not fill it up with another one of your favourite perfumes that might not come in a travel size.

Btw I wasn't affiliated with any of these brands, I just genuinely like to travel with these items.
